Rules
and Regulations
The lake is patrolled daily at various times by the city. They do enforce the speed limit of 45 MPH and have a radar gun to verify. They also enforce the traffic pattern of counter-clockwise around the lake, you know, like driving on an interstate highway, staying in your own lanes going the right direction!!! This applies to waverunners and jetskis, also. This makes boating much more safe especially when there are more boats on the lake. They also check to see that all boats and personal watercraft have an annual current city boat sticker. You must have a sticker to put your boat or personal watercraft on Governor Bond Lake. There are only annual stickers available and there are only about 200 non-county resident stickers available each year. These get sold out early uusually in January or February. There are unlimited stickers for county property owners. The city council has recently approved limited daily boat stickers for the week days not weekends. There are horsepower limits for boats and also personal watercraft. Call City Hall at 618-664-1644 to get a current copy of the restrictions/requirements. The patrolmen are also there for you if you need help. They are in radio contact with the Police Department at all times for problems or emergencies. The Department of Conservation also patrols the lake at different times and they give more tickets than warnings, so make sure that you have all required equipment aboard!!! Let's all boat safely and responsibly, and have a great time!!! Call Greenville City Hall at 618-664-1644 to get current copies of lake and boating regulations and of boat permit prices. |
